New Hobby

Mike and I decided fishing might be a good hobby for us to do. I used to go fishing pretty often with my family, but its been a few years since the last time I've gone. So the other day Mike and I headed to Wal-Mart and picked out our fishing poles and all the necessary tackle. Then yesterday we got some sandwiches and went over to our local state park, Trinidad Lake State Park, to do some fishing. However, even though the temperature was quite nice (we had a high of 72 degrees yesterday), it ended up being the windiest day EVER! Nevertheless, we had a blast getting out of the house and trying out our new hobby. I think we are both excited to go again, perhaps on a less windy day.

 Lunch time
Definitely not used to views like this in Florida!

Spring Break Recap: Part Three

Happy Thursday! Today I'm sharing the rest of the Collins' Crew visit to Colorado last week during Spring Break. You can read the first two posts here and here.

Monday was by far our busiest day, but I have to say it was my favorite day! First we visited the Pueblo Zoo, then explored Bishop's Castle, and finally celebrated Saint Patrick's day at home with a fire in the back yard and good food.

We weren't sure what to expect from the zoo, but it was really nice! I enjoyed seeing all the animals and having fun with my family. The male lion was really curious about us and came up close to the gate so we could take pictures. Also, there was a Sun Bear who really enjoyed putting his paws in the air and scratching his back on the gate so it looked like he was dancing. Mike's favorite was the Pallas Cats. They look similar to regular cats, expect wilder!

After the zoo we headed over to Bishop's Castle. Our neighbor told Mike about it and I'm really glad we checked it out. It was really beautiful! You can climb all the way to the top, but only Mike and Cody were brave enough to do it.

Once we got home we were ready to relax and enjoy a St. Paddy's Day by the fire.

Tuesday we went and checked out the NRA Whittington Center in New Mexico. It is really big! We spent the most time in the museum they have there, but we also drove around and saw deer and pronghorns. I think Mike and I might need to plan a camping trip there sometime during our stay in Colorado.

The rest of the vacation we just relaxed and enjoyed each others company. I was sad to see my family go, but look forward to the next time I get to see them!

Spring Break Recap: Part Two

I'm continuing my posts of our Spring Break recap. You can read the first post here!

Sunday, March 16th, was Mike and I's second wedding anniversary! We were thankful my family was here to celebrate with us and had a day full of fun.

The first thing we did was take Mom, Dad, and Cody on a scenic drive of Highway 12. You may remember me posting about it here. Mike and I thought it was a pretty enough drive that my family would enjoy it and that they did!

As you can see, it was a little windy on the mountains that day!

We were lucky enough to see some deer and elk on our drive!!

That afternoon we decided to try out our local bowling alley. It was like a miniature version of any bowling alley I have ever been to...it only had twelve lanes! We had an absolute blast and played two games.

For dinner, we had plans to eat at Mike and I's favorite Trinidad restaurant, Bella Luna, however after walking down the street to get there, we realized it was closed! Lots of restaurants and shops close early around here, especially on Sundays. So we just walked a little further down the block and went to another pizza place called Fabilis. It was a wonderful dinner full of laughter!
Thanks for checking in! Tomorrow I'll have pictures up of our trip to the zoo and a castle!!
